IC; musical discussion and double date with Kurt, Blaine, and Emily

[there are drinks lined up over the bar, but they're all virgin, for the sake of remaining sober during this discussion. Santana is rested up on the end furthest away from Emily with her eyes on Kurt, as she's looking at him with an indication of "get on with it." even though they've only been set up for two minutes, she's already growing impatient. like most times of the day, it's not difficult to find themselves alone in the bar, either. so it goes]

[does as asked and moves over, arranging himself under Blaine's arm, definitely cuddlier than usual]

[quieter, so that he can eavesdrop on Emily and Santana's conversation] I have one of those leather jackets, we wore them for a Bon Jovi slash Usher mashup last year.

[gets situated, making sure Kurt seems comfortable. keeping his voice low as well and speaking close to Kurt's ear]

How have you managed to keep that from me?

I can't believe no one else here likes Sandy.

[looks at Santana for another couple seconds before turning back to the screen and responding to Blaine]

It's not that I dislike Sandy, just... apparently she's not my type.

It's because you're a lot like Sandy, Emily. Don't take that as an insult, but if Grease were written ... now, Sandy would totally be banging Rizzo by the end of the musical and Danny would realize what he lost out on by being an overly macho douchebag.

[snorts] I don't know what musicals you've been watching, Santana, but if Wicked didn't go there . . . And I don't like Sandy because she has two guys competing over her, one of which she's stringing along, despite the fact that she couldn't be anymore bland and boring.

[whispered, to Blaine] I've read that keeping a degree of mystery in a relationship keeps it alive.

She's just trying to figure out what she wants. It's not that bad. That said, I kind of like Santana's version.

[to Kurt] Leather jackets should never be kept a mystery.

It's not the worst thing in the world, but she was still being pretty inconsiderate. The story spans the whole school year, right? So who knows how long she was dating the other guy.

[...smiles slyly] Maybe in our re-imagining, after they both lose her to Rizzo, they can decide they're better off without her anyway and walk off into the sunset together at the end.

[after Emily speaks, she actually shifts closer to her, and her hand just slides up the other girl's back]

I'll agree that the other guy was probably a total 'mo, but Danny's more likely to hook up with Kenickie than he is that lame-o.

And for the record, Kurt, I'm pretty sure RENT went there. But that's pretty much the whole point of it, right?

[turns his body towards Blaine and drops his hand on Blaine's abs abs, kissing him quickly on the lips before looking back at Emily and Santana, checking for possible signs of discomfort from Emily]

They can have each other. Who else would put with their questionable grooming habits?

As for RENT, yes. And you can't even put on a high school production of it without the PTAs breathing down on you, if not outright canceling the show.

[cuddling Kurt a little closer, fingers running lightly over his shoulder]

RENT is a little bit risque, homosexuality aside. Not that I think it should get black listed in schools, but I can see where a group of parents might be concerned.

[not uncomfortable! or at least no more uncomfortable than she already was, as she'd straightened up in her seat (just a little bit) when Santana moved. she actually thinks Kurt and Blaine are cute! but it's making the double-dateness of the event become more obvious. so, in summary: not uncomfortable with the PDA, but not really looking like she's completely relaxed here either]

True. But from what I've seen, that's not really the case in camp. You could probably do pretty much anything you wanted in a production here.

Which is exactly why we should take advantage of things and push our limits. Grease gets put on at high schools, and they can manage it, can't they? Contrary to what all your virginal minds believe, you can manage sensuality without someone sprouting a few whiskers.

Though we might want to make sure it's separate from the bloody showers. Too much imagery related to that time of the month, and it'll just make your audience cranky.

[straightens up, because this subject has come up already and he wants to put an end to it]

The goal isn't to titillate the audience, but to put on a show with recognizable camp elements. We're not doing "Camp: the SEXY version", but "Camp: the theatrical version".

Of course, there will be romance and yes, passion. It's only to be expected when love blossoms in extreme situations. However, it should go without saying that no one's going to turn into an animal onstage. That's just tasteless.

[rubbing Kurt's arm and trying to get him to relax back into the chair]

I have to agree with Kurt on this one. Just because we could do something really sexual doesn't mean we need to. I mean come on, we can keep people's attention without such an obvious gimmick, right?

Right. I mean, as shocking as you may find it, I don't actually think there's anything wrong with sensuality in general. I just think... there's a time and a place and a right way to go about it, you know? It doesn't need to go overboard if you know how to use a small amount to the most effect.

[moves his hand backl as if to keep Blaine away, but instead catches his hand and laces their fingers together in Blaine's lap. however his back is still turned on Blaine, facing Santana]

Okay, we will put this to rest much quicker if you say what you have in mind and I tell you whether that's suitable or too much.

[rubs Kurt's back lightly with the nails on his free hand. decides to stay quiet, not wanting to add to the potential argument]

I think half the reality of this place is getting half-way there and not being able to finish. A fixture of society is sex, and it's the same here, no matter what any of you believe.

[curls into Emily and brushes her hair off her shoulder to dip down against her neck]

[inhales against her neck and kisses the skin lightly down toward her collarbone, with her hand resting against her abdomen beneath her breasts and then sliding down a little]

Without giving them too much of a show. Right, Emily?

[pulls back fully with the question and looks directly at the boys]

[takes a couple of steps away from the couch and looks between Kurt and Blaine and definitely not at Santana] Where's the bathroom?
