[there are drinks lined up over the bar, but they're all virgin, for the sake of remaining sober during this discussion. Santana is rested up on the end furthest away from Emily with her eyes on Kurt, as she's looking at him with an indication of "get on with it." even though they've only been set up for two minutes, she's already growing impatient. like most times of the day, it's not difficult to find themselves alone in the bar, either. so it goes]

I never would've guessed growing up without friends would someday become an advantage in survival.

[was expecting the Brittany story, but] . . . Okay. I did get the impression you had a problem with that from the conversation in that hellhole, by which I mean the hellhole where you both live.

I'm safe there, and I get as much booze as I want, and since we failed at Nationals, I can do as much as I want.

... Regardless, that's the beginning and end of it.

Well, the important thing is that you're safe. Blaine's new digs make me feel like royalty, but I still wish he were rooming with someone with the power to protect him.

But back to Emily, was that the first time you guys kissed?

We kissed after Pride.

[sits back to take the bits and pieces of information in and try to make sense of it all, then gets this really bad feeling]

Look, Santana. We both know you pulled a remarkable move in order to win prom queen, so I need to ask this. Did you plan to get Emily to kiss you again by finding her under the mistletoe?

She would've kissed me regardless.

And you think my crush was creepy.

Follow this, Hummel. She won't do anything unless strings are attached, and they can't be.

[smiles at that because aww Emily] You really are closing the door on a great person.

Brittany's been here, and she's the only thing I want. I'll mess around with Emily, but that's as far as it can go. Will go.

Brittany was here, but she's not here right now. And obviously, it sounds like you both could do with some time apart from each other to figure yourselves out.

But fine, no one's saying you have to date her. [except for the part where he's trying to talk Santana into a double date] However, the least you can do is let her call the shots. You've made it clear to her how far you will go. Don't force her to go further than she wants to. And for all that's good and holy, be nice to her! She just sat through the whole meeting without once storming out and then agreed to hang out with us the rest of the day. That girl's a keeper.

I thought nice, friendly and into sports was your type.

Brittany's not nice. That's part of the appeal of her—she can be a bigger bitch than me when she wants to. I'm really sick of everyone forgetting that because she took pity on a cripple for half the school year.

Emily's boring and spineless. And from where I'm standing, can't even handle being touched without feeling like she'll catch a disease, so it isn't happening. Stop playing matchmaker; I don't need your help.

[snorts] Yeah, I bet none of those things are true, or you wouldn't have come back for more. And yes, I admit I'd have liked it if you two hit it off, because you could use being happier, Santana. But that has already happened when I wasn't looking. So instead, I'll be your romantic advisor, before you can take this good thing and ruin it and, worst of all, convince yourself that that was what you meant to do all along.

I don't need an advisor.
